Lecture & course clips

Turn lectures and course videos into short clips

Inside every long lesson are a few explanations that make an idea click — the clear example, the common mistake, the one-sentence summary. As short clips, they reach students who would never start a 50-minute video, and they show what your course or channel teaches.

ClipIQ finds those moments. It transcribes the lesson, ranks the explanations that stand on their own, and cuts them into captioned vertical clips.

What educators use clips for

  • Attract new students. A short, clear explanation shows how you teach better than a course description does.
  • Grow a channel. Short clips from full lessons give Shorts and Reels viewers a way into your longer videos.
  • Revision snippets. Bite-sized explanations are easy for existing students to rewatch before a test.

Lessons that clip best

ClipIQ chooses moments from what is said, so lessons where you explain out loud clip best. Clips are 20 seconds to about two minutes and end on a finished sentence, which suits one idea per clip.

The vertical crop follows the most prominent face on screen. Lessons where you’re on camera frame well. A lesson that is mostly a whiteboard, screen recording or slides gets a centered vertical crop, which can cut off the sides — the 1:1 and 16:9 exports keep more of the screen.

Captions help learners

Every clip has captions burned in, which helps students watching without sound, learners reading along in a second language, and viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing. The SRT file is available for each clip too.

Frequently asked questions

Will the clips show my slides or screen?

Vertical clips follow the most prominent face, or use a centered crop when there’s no face, so the sides of slides or a screen recording can be cut off. The 1:1 and 16:9 exports show more of the screen.

Can I upload lessons from my course platform?

Yes, if you can download the lesson as a video file (MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV, M4V or AVI, up to 2 GB).

How long are the clips?

Between 20 seconds and about two minutes, each ending on a finished sentence.

Can I post clips of lectures I didn’t record?

Only if you have the rights or permission to reuse them. You’re responsible for the content you clip and publish.
